Its with a heavy heart we can confirm that the Children’s Summer Camp in the Chernobyl exclusion zone was totally destroyed in the resent forest fires that have plagued the area. It’s a huge loss for everyone.
The summer camp was a regular stop on all of our Chernobyl tours. The camp was hidden from view by lush forests, it must have been a place of such joy for the children of the area at the time. We will remember it fondly.
It’s believed that around 30% of attractions around the Chernobyl exclusion zone have been totally destroyed by the fires that have been raging for 10 days, a truly devastating loss for everyone.
Most of the destruction centred around the small abandoned villages around Chernobyl, all with mostly wood built buildings. All the main areas remain in unaffected by the fires.
